Alan Weinstein
ADVISORY COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
Alan serves as Advisory Council Chairman of Blue Jay Consulting. During his three-decade employment career in healthcare, Alan has focused on developing startup businesses providing services to hospitals through shared programs intended to achieve greater economies of scale. During the past four years, he has been involved in business enterprises as a board member of early and growth stage healthcare companies selling goods and services to hospital systems. He is the Founder & former President of Premier, Inc., which provides shared services to over 1700 hospitals and operate with 1,250 employees. Its services include group purchasing, insurance services, management engineering, data services, venture funding, biomedical engineering, innovation evaluations and process improvement consulting. With $29 billion in purchasing volume in 2006, Premier's purchasing program is the largest Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) in the U.S. Alan is also the Founder, President & CEO of Premier Health Alliance, a national alliance of 54 major teaching hospitals. Prior to its merger during the formation of Premier, Inc., it provided services to hospitals such as group purchasing, insurance programs, managed care consulting, national nurse recruiting and temporary staffing, Medicaid processing, licensing services and education programming. Alan holds a B.A. from Allegheny College and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.
