Jim Hoelz, RN, MS, MBA, CEN, FAEN
CHIEF NURSE EXECUTIVE/MANAGING PARTNER
As a registered nurse, Jim Hoelz brings a keen clinical perspective to everything he does. He began his career as an ED nurse before expanding his scope to become an ED nurse practitioner and ED director. He has served as a director of ambulatory services, director of JCAHO survey preparation and director of quality management at a major urban medical center.
Before founding Blue Jay Consulting, Jim spent nearly a decade with Cardinal Health Consulting and Services where he served as a senior consultant, project manager and vice president. During his tenure at Cardinal, Jim oversaw accounts across the country and managed 40 project managers and consultants. In this role, he was extremely active in ED performance optimization.
Jim is a frequent contributor to clinical and administrative healthcare publications and a sought-after industry speaker. He is a fellow of the Commonwealth Fund Executive Nurse Fellowship Program, an affiliate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been an active leader at the local, state and national levels in the Emergency Nurses Association since 1984.
An active member of American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders, Jim holds a bachelor's degree in natural science from the Johns Hopkins University, a master's degree in nursing from Pace University and a master's degree in business from Temple University.
