Bill Briggs, RN, MSN, CEN, FAEN

Bill has over 25 years of emergency and trauma leadership experience in academic medical centers and community hospitals. He brings a wealth of management expertise with particular interest in performance improvement and patient satisfaction. He has been successful in bringing real and sustainable change to each organization.
Most recently Bill developed a new trauma program for a major teaching hospital increasing the trauma volume by 140% over three years. As the director of another academic emergency department he increased revenue by $4 million annual and raised patient satisfaction from 70 to 94%. Believing that he should never lose sight of what it means to be a nurse, Bill works as a staff nurse once or twice month to provide patient care in a community hospital near home.
Elected to three terms on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Nurses Association, Bill served as the 2009 national president. He currently serves on the American Nurses Association's Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics and is a member of the American Trauma Society, the Society of Trauma Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Bill has lectured extensively throughout the US on topics including emergency department crowding solutions and improving patient satisfaction. His international interests have taken him to Saudi Arabia, Israel, South Africa, the UK, and China.
Bill has an Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of the State of New York, a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Nursing from Salem State College. He is a Certified Emergency Nurse, a fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing, and the first recipient of the ENA Management Award |
