The Emergency Department Nurse Leader of the Year Award is sponsored jointly by Blue Jay Consulting and the Emergency Nurses Association
Blue Jay Consulting is a team of nationally recognized emergency department leaders who improve processes, provide enhanced interim leadership, or develop a combination of the two. They implement solutions with quantifiable results and tackle each project with a hands-on, in the-trenches approach. Blue Jay is dedicated to the quality of emergency care and are active contributors in the emergency care arena.
ENA is the only professional nursing association dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing and emergency care through advocacy, expertise, innovation and leadership. Founded in 1970, ENA serves as the voice of 39,000 members and their patients through research, publications, professional development, injury prevention and patient education. CRITERIA
Any member of the Emergency Nurses Association may nominate himself, herself or another member for this award. The leadership team of any hospital or health care system may nominate a member for this award. The nominee must be an active member of ENA and must currently be in a leadership position in an emergency department. The nominee must demonstrate significant contributions to the emergency department in the following categories:
- Collaboration with Emergency Medicine
- Quality Patient Care
- Operational Effectiveness
- Education
- Community Service
- Synergistic approach to leadership within
the emergency department, hospital or
hospital system
The nominee must demonstrate collaborative relationships with emergency medicine and ancillary departments to implement and improve operational and clinical standards based on evidence-based practice. The nominee will create and sustain a high degree of patient satisfaction with emergency care delivery and will implement creative and innovative strategies to address emergency department throughput.
JUDGING
The selection panel will consist of appointees from ENA's Awards Committee and two representatives from Blue Jay Consulting. The panel will judge the entries with its recommendations subject to review by the ENA board of directors. The decision of the board is final, and the board reserves the right to make no award if there are no nominees of sufficient merit. The awardee must be present at the ENA State and Chapter Leaders Conference on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in New Orleans to receive the award. If the awardee is not scheduled to attend this conference, airfare and one night's hotel will be provided. All entries must be completed and received no later than Monday, November 14, 2011 for consideration by the selection panel.
